PhD Student Initiative Program – IEEE IMBioc 2026

The 2026 IEEE International Microwave Biomedical Conference will be held from 26th to 29th April 2026 in Cosenza, Italy (IMBioC 2026). We envisage holding several exciting student programs including PhD Student Initiative during the conference to maintain the interest of the rapidly increasing RF/microwave student community.

The plan of the PhD Student Initiative is to support at least 20 PhD students from universities worldwide who wish to participate in the conference.

The main goal of the Initiative is to support doctoral candidates in radiofrequency and microwave technologies for biomedical applications and to expose them to conference content that may inspire them to produce high-quality research work and specialize in this field. Provided that there is a sufficient number of applicants, at least 20 awards will be given to the PhD students from universities at locations worldwide. The awards will cover the registration fees. The number of entries from each affiliation would be limited in order to diversify the overall program, i.e., each research group/educational institution may submit up to 3 applications.

Please note the following eligibility conditions:

♦    All applicants must be IEEE MTT-S Student Members at the time of the application.

♦   All applicants must send an Application Form (download here) to all the Initiative Organizers together with a recommendation letter by their supervisor by the 19th of March 2026 (Extended deadline).

♦   Past PhD students awarded with the IMBioC PhD Student Initiative are not eligible.

♦   The recipients of MTT-S Fellowships/Scholarships are not eligible.

♦   Successful applicants are expected to be present in person at the IMBioC 2026 conference.

♦   It is not mandatory for the recipient to present a paper.

♦   The winners of the PhD Student Initiative will also be asked to volunteer as student helpers during the conference and to submit a report for one (or more) papers of their choice presented during the conference.
